When did you come to First Church of God?
Barb and I started attending FCOG in December of 2009, and came on staff in the spring of 2010.
What is you role on the FCOG staff?
My role is to Pastor alongside of our Lead Pastor, this includes many different job responsibilities including Preaching about 30% of time as well as teaching classes, working with other staff, as well other responsibilities.
What is your family like?
I have been married to my wife Barb for almost 33 years; she is my best friend and the love of my life. We have 3 children, Jason, Amanda and Jenna, 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
What is your all-time favorite movie?
I have always loved anything Clint Eastwood is starring in so my favorite movie has always been “Dirty Harry”.
What is your favorite book?
This is a really hard question because I read a lot and have enjoyed many different books in my life. As far as authors, I love reading books by Andy Stanley and Chuck Swindol, and Dr. Benjamin Carson, and as far as fiction authors I really enjoy all books written by Lee Child, and Vince Flynn.
What is your favorite food? Restaurant?
Well if you know me you know I don’t have a problem coming up with a favorite food or restaurant. As far as food I would have to say on the inexpensive side I really enjoy a great Burger or a Deep Dish pizza and on the other side I love a good steak, or crab legs. As far as restaurants my favorite Restaurants are PF Changs, any of the major Japanese Steakhouses, any restaurant serving “all you can eat crab legs” and of course McDonald’s.
Who is someone you would love to meet someday?
There are a number of people I would love to meet if I had the chance. First I would love to meet President George W Bush. I would also love to meet a few different sports figures, Larry Bird, or Joe Namath to name 2, and finally I would love to meet Billy Graham.
What was my very first job?
I worked as a janitor at my home Church.
What is your favorite Bible verse?
There are so many it is hard to name one, but Proverbs 3:5&6 are two verses I really love along with John 3:16. There are also 2 lines from 2 old hymns that I repeat often, “Trust and Obey for there is no other was to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey”, and “Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of his glory and grace”.
What is something most people would no know about you?
That I played half of a season of Semi-Professional Baseball, before moving out of the area for a new job.
